Kenzie | Shawano High School Senior Photos | Class of 2019

Shawano, WI

While summer in Wisconsin brought us many beautiful days doused in rich, warm sunshine, there was certainly no shortage of heat, humidity, and thick swards of nasty mosquitos. It’s always a welcome change when autumn rolls around. September is an interesting transition between the two seasons—the long and hot days slowly slipping into cool mornings and crisp afternoons and the trees just finally began to show a little color. And while September does mean the end of summer, it also gives us a lot to look forward to. For my client Kenzie, it was the new school year. But that wasn’t the only thing she was excited about. Kenzie is a senior this year, and she’s got quite the exciting future ahead!

Taking senior pictures is a milestone for any young person’s life, and Kenzie was full of some awesome ideas I was happy to incorporate into the shoot. Kenzie is an incredibly passionate person with a lot of amazing talents (more on that later) and I wanted to showcase her beautiful personality and diverse interests in our session. We spent most of our time on her family’s property in Shawano, at the barn where she boards her horses, and against the backdrop of a beautiful lake nearby. It was warm for a day in September, but the colors on the trees were just starting to change and the sunshine was giving us a beautiful blue sky.

As I got to know Kenzie better, I couldn’t believe how truly talented she is! For starters, she plays twelve instruments. Twelve! She also has a passion for her horses and rides both English and Western, competes in shows, and is an experienced trap shooter, which is a major discipline of clay pigeon shooting. In addition, she’s getting into photography herself and is experimenting as she finds her own unique style behind the camera. I loved talking about our mutual interests together, and it was a fun challenge to incorporate her passions into the shoot.

The session was both relaxing and rewarding, and we had plenty of fun in the meantime! I was hoping to get a picture of Kenzie laughing, so I scrunched my face back behind the camera and made fun of my triple chin—which resulted in a candid laugh and a beautiful picture. Angela Marie Makeup Artistry did hair and makeup, and Kenzie wore a mix of her own pieces and pieces from my client wardrobe.

Never underestimate the power of your personality! Let it shine proudly on display, whether for senior portraits or to commemorate another exciting aspect of your life. I want to help you take your ideas for pictures and make them a reality. Lacking inspiration? No worries! Together we can come up with a customized session that celebrates you, your life, and all the things in it.
