While there is nothing like the thrill of new friendships, there are some relationships in our life that stand the test of time. When you can sift through years of cherished memories with a certain someone in mind, you know that that relationship is something special. These kinds of long-lasting friendships often extend to the four-legged friends in our life. When I met with Haley and her American Quarter Horse Dyzni, we set out to celebrate just that—a beautiful friendship that has lasted over a decade.
Haley and Dyzni have been a team for over ten years, and the depth of their trust and respect is evident in the loving way they interact with one another. The type of deep understanding displayed between them is often only achieved after years spent together, starting with a strong foundation and evolving into something special. Haley is a delight to be around. Found in everything she does is an infectious joy and positive outlook and I really enjoyed spending time with her as she shared stories about her journey with Dyzni. Reflected in Dyzni's gentle temperament and eager to please attitude are her rider's strong work ethic and kind demeanor. The horse and rider really make a great team.
We spent the day enjoying some of the final moments of summer warmth, with a beautiful blue sky illuminated by the light of a warm sun. Angela Marie Makeup and Artistry joined us behind the scenes to help Haley get ready for the session, and she nailed the natural aesthetic we were striving to obtain. The shoot took place at CEO Performance Horses in Wisconsin Rapids, a training center situated on lovely rolling acreage with beautifully maintained arenas and turnout pens. It was the perfect spot to snag some beautiful shots. The day ended up being exactly right for what we were going for—we got some lovely pictures outside in addition to some pictures of Dyzni for me to edit as fine art portraits.
The resulting images of Haley and Dyzni celebrate the bond between two best friends—a kind of friendship I have been fortunate enough to share with a horse of my own. Whether or not you've had your horse for ten weeks or ten years, I want to help you celebrate the bond that is unique to the two of you. Because it doesn't matter how long you’ve been acquainted—you already know you've made a friend for life.
