Brooke & Canman | Equestrian Maternity Portrait Session
Brooke & Canman’s Equestrian Maternity Session
Private Property in Clintonville, WI
Just wait until you meet Brooke, a stunning mama who was the subject of a recent maternity shoot I did. I was so excited at the opportunity to do a maternity session, and Brooke could not have been any more delightful to work with. She is such a kind spirit with the sweetest disposition and looked just gorgeous with her adorable baby bump on full display. Brooke wanted an equestrian session to capture her special bond with her horse, but she also wanted to celebrate her pregnancy journey. Looking at the resulting images, I’m really proud to say we were able to accomplish both!
It was important for Brooke that Canman, an AQHA Registered gelding, be involved in the session, given their journey together and the special bond they share. Canman is a colt of Dash Ta Traffic, and his impressive pedigree is evident in both his disposition and performance. Brooke barrel races with Canman, and I speak from experience when I say that this is a skill that requires a great deal of trust between both horse and rider. This trust was the foundation of a strong relationship between Canman and Brooke, and it only seemed natural that he was involved in the session.
Brooke wore dresses from my exclusive client wardrobe, and I love that we went with options that celebrated and highlighted her bump, especially because she was pregnant with twins! Angela Marie of Angela Marie Makeup Artistry did her hair and makeup, and can we just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely gorgeous Brooke is? She was positively aglow before, during, and after our session, and I not only attribute this to her stunning features but her beautiful qualities, as well. Brooke’s mom Kirsten joined us for the shoot, and it was a lot of fun speaking with both of them about Brooke’s journey and all of the things she was looking forward to for after the babies arrived.
The day was warm and comfortable but there was some wind, which we were able to use to our advantage. The dresses Brooke chose made her look ethereal as they blew back in the breeze, and I couldn’t have been happier with how the pictures turned out. I feel confident these are pictures that Brooke and her family—including her new babies—will cherish for a lifetime, especially if one day her little ones show an interest in horses themselves!
If you too are a horse lover, consider including them in the other important events in your life. Engagement, maternity, and graduation are all great examples of photoshoots that are made better with a horse! Horses become everything to us, and it’s only natural that we take them with us on our journey. And including them in professional photographs is just one way to celebrate and commemorate our relationship with them.
