Kerry & Marvin | Horse & Rider Photoshoot
Scarboro Creek Equestrian Center
If you’ve been following my career, you know that I have a special affinity for capturing the bond between horses and riders. Throughout my lifetime I have had a number of incredibly special relationships with my horses, and to be able to preserve cherished memories for other fellow equestrians is a privilege that I cherish. And it’s always something that instantly catches my eye when I’m connecting with new clients—the bond so many of them share with their horses touches my heart in unique ways each and every time, and I adore the opportunity to work with so many awesome horse and rider pairs.
Kerry and her AQHA Registered horse Marvin (a.k.a., Heaven’s Hot Guy) are no exception. These two have the most loving, trusting bond, and it was such a delight getting to meet them both. Marvin is a spirited, gorgeous American Quarter Horse who not only responds to Kerry’s every command but willingly puts forth the effort to impress his best friend. When you meet this two, it is instantly apparent how much Marvin loves Kerry, and this sentiment is mirrored by Kerry in every way. And I was instantly impressed by Kerry as a horsewoman. She’s a kind, determined young woman with an impressive equestrian resume, and together with Marvin she is one half of a talented pair in both Western pleasure and Ranch riding.
Our session took place on an absolutely gorgeous day in Kewaunee, Wisconsin at the Scarboro Creek Equestrian Center. The Scarboro Creek Equestrian Center was a beautiful backdrop on such a warm and lovely day, and I enjoyed learning more about everything this equestrian center had to offer. It not only offers boarding and lessons, but a lot of grit and determination from each member on the staff—everyone there is dedicated to helping you and your horse reach your full potential, and I was instantly impressed.
Angela Marie Makeup and Artistry was behind the scenes providing hair and makeup, and she did a wonderful job, as expected. Kerry looked beautiful, and alongside Marvin and her two precious pups, Thor and Loki, the four of them made the sweetest family in front of the camera. We also incorporated a vintage sofa in the pictures, which I felt added a super neat shabby chic element to the resulting images.
I loved the opportunity to capture the bond between Kerry and her horse Marvin, along with Thor and Loki, and was so excited with the resulting images. If you are one half of a horse and rider pair, I encourage you to look at the pictures of Kerry and Marvin and imagine yourself in their place. Wouldn’t you love to have the special relationship you share with your horse forever captured on camera? And by all means, bring along your other four-legged friends, too! I think Thor and Loki are the stars in a lot of these pictures, and I encourage you to bring your dogs along, too. Or cat—or hey, even chicken! Whoever makes up your family, I want to include them in a session that’ll produce pictures you’ll value the rest of your life.
