Spanish Moss Magic with Shelly and Scarlett | Horse and Rider Session

If you’ve never seen Spanish moss draping from the trees, filtering the sunlight and creating a mystical, magical feeling, you need to head to Florida, like, now. I have known Shelly for years now, so when we had the chance to meet up in FL to capture photos of her and Scarlett, I was Gone with the Wind, baby! This horse and rider session will hold a special place in my artist’s heart for year to come.

Every time I look at the photos of this pair cantering bareback through a field of trees draped in moss, I remember the breathless feeling that can only be found on rides like this. No worries, no things to accomplish, just pure enjoyment of each other’s presence and the bond you have with your horse. Shelly has raised and trained Scarlett since she was a weanling, so the love you can feel between these two is that much stronger for the life they’ve lived together.

Any opportunity I can get to work in Florida’s natural beauty, I will take. Add in one of my best friends and someone I admire as a horsewoman and a fellow photographer? I can honestly say it was hard to choose favorites from this session!
