Ashley and Louis | Equestrian Portraits

Horse & Rider Portraits at Scarboro Equestrian Center Luxemburg, WI

Some of my favorite things about visiting the barn for equestrian horse and rider portraits on a snow day is seeing the horses standing in the field with snow lightly dusting their backs, warm breath fogging the air, ready to come into the cozy barn for treats (and maybe a little hot chocolate too!) And the best thing about cold barn days? Hugging your horse and sticking your frozen hands into a blanket for the warmest snuggles ever! Priceless.

Ashley and Louis train with Gorbette Performance horses in the Hunter/Jumper discipline. For any of my non-horsey readers, this discipline is all about demonstrating qualities that help a horse on the “hunt” field (hunts rarely involve any actual hunting these days) and should show the horse’s ability to perform effortlessly and calmly over natural jumps and over various terrains.

Ashley and Louis were the cutest pair: her bright and warm personality next to Mr. Tall, Dark, and Handsome Louis himself. His dark coat looking so stark and rich against the Wisconsin snow brought back so many memories of my own cold barn days. No matter how chilly it gets, any time spent with a horse is time well spent!

Is anyone else excited for the cold weather to come back? Living and riding in Wisconsin is not for the weak of heart but we love it for a reason! Get in touch with me if you’d like to book your own winter equestrian portraits!
