Horse & Rider | Emily & Ringo
Horse & Rider Photoshoot
Equine Photography in Terrebonne, Oregon
Across the United States are so many incredible places to explore and experience, and it's exciting whenever my passion for my job and my love of travel become intertwined. I recently got to enjoy an exciting trip to Oregon, and while I was only there for about a week, we travelled extensively throughout the state. From luscious forests to a dazzling coastline, Oregon truly has it all—and that includes a pretty amazing Equestrian community featuring some of the coolest people I’ve had the privilege of meeting and working with.
Summers in Oregon are usually pretty mild, but they aren’t without their hot spells. When it came time to meet up with Emily at the Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne, the day was blazing underneath a desert sky. That’s right—desert. While Oregon is often associated with the wet weather and green landscapes common in the Pacific Northwest, those pockets are usually isolated to the coast, Portland, and its surrounding areas. Most of the state is actually quite arid! I loved being able to experience so many different climates in just one trip—we explored the beautiful coast, saw incredible waterfalls, and enjoyed the rustic desert landscapes.
Our shoot with Emily took place at Smith Rock State Park. This expansive park is incredible, with towering rock spires, scenic views, and deep river canyons that stretch for miles. It was an unbelievable backdrop for Emily and her Mustang, Ringo. Just watching Ringo move amongst the golden grasses was an out of this world experience—he truly looked like he belonged to the scenery. And Emily fit right in alongside him. The duo couldn’t have looked more at home!
My favorite thing about this shoot was that Emily wanted these pictures to be taken “just because”. I love celebrating the relationship between horse and rider, and I wholeheartedly believe that any excuse is a good excuse to capture the memories to last a lifetime. And if you happen to live near somewhere as incredible as Smith Rock State Park, then why not? Even if you live far from Wisconsin, don’t hesitate to reach out—just like it was in this case, I’m always eager to travel to new places for my clients.
