Senior Photos with Lydia & her Mare, Luna

As an equine photographer, I have the privilege of capturing the special bond between people and their beloved horses. Recently, I had the pleasure of working with Lydia and her stunning Buckskin mare, Luna, to create a beautiful set of senior photos. Lydia had pictures of her and Luna taken before but she felt nothing quite captured her personality or her deep connection with Luna, so she hired me for a last minute senior session. The result was a photoshoot that perfectly reflected Lydia's love for her horse and her unique spirit.
A Curated Experience
For Lydia's photoshoot, we wanted to ensure she felt like a star. We curated an entire experience just for her, starting with professional hair and makeup. Our talented makeup artist and hairstylist worked with Lydia to create a look that was both natural and elegant, enhancing her beauty and ensuring she felt confident in front of the camera.
Next, we offered an exclusive client location known for its incredible landscapes and picturesque backdrops. This location provided the perfect setting for Lydia and Luna, offering a variety of stunning environments to choose from. From rolling hills to serene meadows, every backdrop added a unique touch to Lydia's photos.
The Photoshoot
Lydia and Luna were a joy to work with. Luna, with her striking buckskin coat, was the perfect complement to Lydia’s graceful presence. The bond between them was evident in every shot, from the way Luna nuzzled Lydia to the way Lydia’s face lit up when she looked at her mare.
We started the shoot in a beautiful field, the golden light of the late afternoon sun creating a warm and magical atmosphere. Lydia wore a cute button down shirt that contrasted beautifully with Luna's rich, earthy tones. As they walked through the tall grass, with Luna’s mane catching the light, the scene looked like something out of a fairytale.
Next, we moved to a charming wooded area, where the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees created a soft, dreamy effect. Lydia changed into her lovely prom dress, perfectly suited for a princess.. Whether she was standing beside Luna, gently holding her reins, or galloping bareback, every moment felt authentic and heartfelt.
Capturing the Connection
One of the most rewarding aspects of this photoshoot was capturing the deep connection between Lydia and Luna. Horses have a unique way of bringing out genuine emotions, and this was clear in every frame. The way Lydia leaned into Luna, the shared glances, and the moments of quiet companionship were all captured in a way that felt true to their relationship.
The final images were a beautiful blend of candid moments and carefully composed shots, each one telling the story of Lydia and Luna's bond.
