You have likely heard the phrase, “it takes a village to raise a child”, and to a certain extent, I have always felt that to be true. While everyone is raised differently, there are oftentimes many friends and family members behind the scenes that are along for the journey. That is why when a young person reaches certain milestones in their life, it’s a cause for celebration among many. I love when my clients bring their family members along for the ride—it just adds to the fun! And as a photographer, watching family relationships is always inspiring. Taylor’s senior session took place on a beautiful, ever so slightly overcast day in De Pere, Wisconsin, and she was accompanied by some of her favorite people. I loved meeting Melissa, Taylor’s mom, as well as Taylor’s grandmother. Not to mention her gorgeous mare, Sadie, who stole the spotlight on more than one occasion. Taylor was a simply awesome young lady to work with; she is ambitious and adventurous, and I loved hearing about her passion for barrel racing with Sadie. Sadie was a patient model as Taylor rearranged herself numerous times to try out different poses. The ensuing results had all of us, Mom and Grandma included, doubled over and in tears from laughter. Seeing her little girl “all grown up” moved Melissa to tears, and it was touching to get to witness that sweet mother-daughter bond. Taking senior pictures can always evoke a variety of emotions, but Taylor was all smiles. While nerves can be natural in front of the camera, I always want my clients to feel at ease and as comfortable as possible. Pictures should always be fun, and I am pleased to report there was plenty of laughter exchanged during this countryside session. Angela Marie Makeup Artistry assisted behind the scenes with hair and makeup, and I really loved Taylor’s choice of outfits, which combined countryside playfulness with refined taste. Taylor’s exuberant joy was contagious, and Sadie’s powerful conformation was highlighted by the natural backdrop. I loved capturing these two’s friendship on camera while sharing in the sentimental moments with Mom and Grandma. Some of my favorite end results were the action shots I captured of Taylor riding Sadie bareback against a beautiful setting sun. It really was the perfect end to a lovely day. Are you a student graduating in the Class of 2020? If so, graduation is fast approaching and dates for senior pictures are running out. Don’t wait a minute longer—I would love to talk with you about your senior session. I know that graduation is a celebration shared by many and am always thrilled when family members tag along for the experience. So, don’t hesitate to bring the gang along. The more, the merrier! We won’t just be celebrating memories—we will be making them, too.
