Forest & Dan | Bridal Session with Horses

Forest & Dan’s Post Wedding Portraits with Bindi & Rudolf

Windenoak Equestrian Center in Seymour, WI

It’s not often that I have the opportunity to take bridal photos, but I was beyond excited when my returning client Forest presented me with the opportunity to take her bridal pictures. You may remember Forest from a number of earlier posts—the founder of Herd of Zebras, this incredible woman is consistently a delight to work with, and I was so excited to be her choice for bridal photos. An experienced horsewoman, she wanted to include her horses Bindi, Rudolph, and Lil Mac.

First, about Forest. Forest is the founder of Herd of Zebras, a community of like-minded individuals looking to find a family in fellow equestrians. There is warmth and character in every product that they sell, and they offer a safe place for others to share stories, find support, and make lasting friends. Forest spent much of her life overcoming personal challenges, but she never allowed these roadblocks to hold her back in life. She knew there had to be others like her—those faced with misfortunes, but resilient nonetheless, dedicated to finding positivity despite life’s challenging moments. And in Herd of Zebras, Forest found her tribe.

Forest and her husband-to-be Dan were both onsite for our session, as well as Angela of Angela Marie Makeup Artistry, who did Forest’s hair and makeup. There is something so intimate and beautiful about a bridal session, and Forest—who is already such a natural beauty—was breathtaking in front of the camera. It was important to her that her three horses be a part of the shoot. Keep an eye out for Bindi—she’s an up-and-coming showjumper with a very promising future under Forest’s lead!

Our session took place at Windenoak Equestrian Center in Seymour, Wisconsin, on a cold day. But the chilly temperatures couldn’t keep the moods down—Dan and Forest were just so in love, and it was beautiful to watch their chemistry from behind the camera. While I don’t often take bridal or wedding photos, I loved the opportunity to be a part of such a momentous celebration, and I am so proud of the finished results.

Just because something isn’t included in my list of specialties, like senior pictures or horse and rider portraits, I love the challenge of working outside of my niche. So please, don’t hesitate to reach out even if it doesn’t initially seem like I do what you’re looking for—I love meeting new people and being exposed to new experiences, and I would love to see if we could still collaborate.
