Molly’s Senior Pictures with her Horse Ahmyr
Sun Fire Stables in East Troy, WI
Molly is such an extraordinary young woman, and I can’t wait to share her story with you. While our session together was primarily to capture senior photos, the story behind each resulting image goes so much deeper. She and her horse Ahmyr (registered name RWS Dreams Come True) are an awesome team and working with them was a lot of fun. But to really appreciate their story, you first need to understand how they found each other.
In 2015, Molly was selected to participate in the American Quarter Horse Association Ranching Heritage Young Horse Development Program. This is an incredible program put together by the AQHA, designed to give young horsemen and women the opportunity to raise their own yearling. The program matches donated weanlings with AQHYA members and encourages growth and responsibility while helping young people to understand and prioritize the key components of horse ownership. Molly was matched with Ahmyr—and that was just the beginning!
Molly did all of the Ahmyr’s training herself. In the years she has owned him they have gone on to compete and show together. They have the type of friendship that can only come from the solid foundation that years of training and trust-building can foster. Ahmyr is very attentive to Molly’s cues and eager to please, and in return, she is gentle and patient with him.
Our session took place at Sun Fire Stables in East Troy, Wisconsin, on a cool, beautiful day. The family-owned and operated equestrian center is located on fifty acres of rolling and open pasture, giving us a plethora of options for where to shoot. Molly’s mom was along for the day, as well as Angela of Angela Marie Makeup Artistry, who did Molly’s hair and makeup and really highlighted Molly’s natural beauty.
While Molly’s senior pictures with Ahmyr show a young woman ready to embark on her next adventure, they also showcase the beautiful bond between horse and rider. Knowing what an honor it is to be selected for the AQHA Young Horse Development Program, I really enjoyed hearing about Molly’s journey with Ahmyr, from initial application to where they are today. If you’re a senior on the brink of graduation and have accomplishments that you are proud of, why not showcase these accomplishments in your senior photos? I love looking for creative ways to celebrate the talents of my clients, and I know that we can find a way to celebrate yours.
