We compete with them, we work with them, we spend an afternoon aimlessly wandering a trail with them. If you have been following my work for any amount of time, you know what I’m talking about—horses, of course!
It doesn’t matter how we choose to spend our time with our horses so long as we spend time together. And isn’t that what it’s really all about? The celebratory bond between horse and rider; a friendship that runs deep.
Not everyone understands how strong the bond between a horse and rider can be, but I would like to think that anyone who met Chrissy and Amigo could be easily persuaded. These two have the most charming friendship, and it was such a delight to capture them on camera. Amigo is an American Quarter Horse with a stunning dun coat and beautiful mane. He and Chrissy have been a team for a long time, and Chrissy was in love with the idea of getting professional photos taken of the two of them together. I was thrilled to oblige!
The session took place on Chrissy’s family farm, a picturesque setting in Marion, Wisconsin. The farm is where Chrissy grew up, and it’s where she learned to ride. I love sessions rooted in nostalgia, and it’s always something special when you can take it back to where it all began. And in Chrissy’s case, it only seemed appropriate to take pictures in the place that where her love for horses was born.
Angela of Angela Marie Makeup Artistry was behind the scenes to keep Chrissy looking radiant, although let’s be honest, this girl glows from the inside out. Angela’s expertise was imperative as the day was overwhelmingly warm, and she kept Chrissy looking fresh and comfortable despite the heat.
Chrissy is incredibly kind, and a complete sweetheart, and working with her and Amigo was a delight. The bond between these two is strong, and you can tell that they’ve been a team for a long time. They respond to each other’s cues effortlessly, and there were moments where all the background noise seemed to melt away, leaving just the two of them. I hope that you’ll agree that the pictures resulting are not just beautiful but poignant as well.
If you and your horse share an unbreakable bond that knows no limitations, consider capturing that friendship on camera. Pictures designed around celebrating your special relationship are an investment, but one that allows you to immediately reap the rewards. Your horse is no doubt one of the most important aspects of your life—and a professional photography session is one little way you can forever immortalize your friendship with them.
