Emma & Sapphire | Horse & Rider Portraits
Keepsake Session at Saddle Ridge Stables | Oregon, WI
Equine Photography for the Equestrian Life
It is not something we want to think about, but the reality of life with animals is that they are not in our lives for nearly as long as we would like. But by acknowledging this fact, we are more apt to consider how we can continue to cherish our horses long after they are gone. In the case of Emma, a keepsake session was just what she needed with her horse, Sapphire. A keepsake session ensures that you'll have photographs that celebrate your bond with them for years to come, and a day spent with your horse is never a day gone to waste.
Emma can be described in many ways, but the first few words that come to mind are adventurous, outgoing, and selfless. Her journey with Sapphire, a Paint, started virtuously; Sapphire was a rescue. But their story didn't stop there. Emma made sure Sapphire's life was full of diverse experiences. And whether they were working the cows or spending time together on the trails, they were doing it together.
The day of our session was warm and sunny, a quintessentially beautiful day in Oregon, Wisconsin. Our shoot took place at the Saddle Ridge Stables, a lovely equestrian center situated against the backdrop of rolling hills and leafy trees. Angela of Angela Marie Makeup Artistry was there to deliver the stunning results you can always expect from her, and Emma looked radiant. Emma's mom was also behind the scenes to assist, and it was wonderful to have her along.
I always take away something different from my sessions with clients, but the sweet bond shared between Sapphire and Emma is unquestionably something I will remember the most. Emma was full of positivity and joy as she told stories about Sapphire, and it's evident that Emma and Sapphire's bond will outlast the confines of time. And as a photographer, it was my privilege to deliver stunning photos that Emma and her family can cherish forever as they remember Sapphire.
If you share a special bond with a senior horse, I want you to know that I understand the emotional challenges presented as your horse continues to age. I have loved and lost several horses in my life, and I wish that I had pictures that really meant something. Pictures that are beautiful enough to hang on the wall. Pictures that truly capture the essence of a relationship. And pictures that celebrate a bond stronger than some can imagine—that between a human and their horse.
