Every little equestrian dreamed of owning the perfect Palomino pony. Flying over jumps, trail riding into the sunset, grooming for hours on end. Even Barbie had one! Imagine my excitement when I saw Gianna’s partner for this session: Finch the German Riding Pony!

German riding ponies are a cross of many breeds, especially Welsh and Arabian, to create the perfect children’s horse. A handy size, springy agility, and a spunky disposition mean they can keep up with the big kids in the show rings while still being the perfect balance of well-mannered and cheeky. Enough to keep any rider on their toes and having a blast!

Gianna shows her own horse as well as rides for several clients. Finch is one of those rides and the two of them compete in the dressage ring together. They even competed at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida — how cool is that?? I just know Finch is one of those rides you wish you didn’t have to give up. Watching professionals do their thing and love every second of it will always be an inspiration!
