Every now and then, the clouds and the sun come together to make the most dramatic, grand sunset that is every photographer’s dream. That’s exactly what happened with Krista during her senior portrait session with her horse, Wilber. It was like a gift from the sky! As we celebrated this soon-to-be graduate with an equestrian photoshoot, I got to experience the bond these two share in and out of the saddle.

This gorgeous Autumn day was full of sunshine and changing leaves and the last lush grass of the season. It was the perfect complement to Krista’s outfits! A casual jean and jacket combo, a formal show ensemble, and an elegant emerald dress that highlighted Wilber’s deep coat and made them a striking pair.

Krista and Wilber both have warm, laid-back personalities. It’s obvious they have one of those relationships little horse-crazy kids dream about. Together they practice dressage: the ultimate test of a horse and rider’s bond and ability to communicate. To nail perfect circles, sail through lead changes, and change gaits with the smallest command, your understanding of each other has to be next-level. Dressage never fails to impress me!
