When It's Time to Say Goodbye | Horse + Rider Session

When it’s time to let go of a horse who means so much to you, the last days are some of the best and the hardest. Keepsake sessions are perfect to give you time with your best friend where you can just stroll around in fields and shower them with love and attention. When Taylor got in touch to schedule a session all about celebrating her childhood pony Joey’s life and spirit, I was all in!

Taylor and Joey have been together from the very start, when Taylor was a horse-crazy little girl and Joey a cheeky pony full of spitfire. Ponies have quite the reputation for their attitudes in that attitude seems to be all they’re made of under the cute, pint-sized exterior! They’re known for being tenacious, spunky, and opinionated. I think that makes them some of the best companions you can have! Joey made this session so fun with his super-sized personality in that adorable little brown and white body.

Saying goodbye isn’t about the sadness of them being gone, but about celebrating the good times and knowing that even though they were a part of your life for just a short time, you were their whole world. While these two have been together since Taylor was young, Joey has been by her side through good days and bad, and all the big adventures and changes that growing up brings.
